Still Alice by Lisa Genova
"She looked back toward the beach, the landscape dimly lit. A figure approached. She knew it was John before she could identify any of his features by the bounce and size of his walk. She didn't ask him where he'd been or how long he'd been gone. She didn't thank him for coming back. He didn't scold her for being out alone without her cell phone, and he didn't ask her to get out and come home. Without a word between them, he undressed and joined her in her ocean."
Lovely book. I was halfway through Alice's journey. I don't know what to feel about this book. It actually scares me a bit. Call me a paranoid, because I always am, but I'm scared to think that I can be in the same situation as she. I am already forgetting things at a young age. Not normal like any other so I got worried a bit. But, I don't want to really think about it.Reading this book made me realized that I shouldn't jeopardize myself. Stressing myself out of nothing. I know I am depressed and I know the implications it can bring me if I didn't stop the habit. I really don't want to think about it. I will take care of myself more. No more stress for me.
And about the book, I believe everyone should read this. You should.

The Lover's Dictionary by David Levithan
only, adj.
That's the dilemma, isn't it? When you're single, there's the sadness and joy of only me. And when you're paired, there's the sadness and joy of only you.
I read the book about a month ago but really wanted to devour myself with this very sexy, mysterious novel of David Levithan for years. There is a tinge of anonymity in it. I do not know the characters, just their situation in bits and pieces. In scenes, they have control of what I would see. The way it was written with a touch of poetry and using words to describe and relate the characters' lives, was just lovely. I would want to read this more and more and more ~

Devotion by Howard Norman
"This tableau - David behind a window, Maggie just outside - constituted part of the same choreography of punishment and encouragement that defined each of Maggie's visits over the next few weeks, and raised in William's mind questions about what inventive stupidities people were capable of when wounded and confused, no matter their native intelligence. No matter their love for each other." - Howard Norman, Devotion
This is the latest book I'd finished, and I wouldn't say that I don't enjoy reading it, because I do enjoy it. Its prose are great and the mood is mellow yet easy on the mind. I love the dilemma it gives, how the author laid the plot, and the answers to my whys. It's such a good read with the right touch of conflict.

Literacy and Longing in L.A. by Jennifer Kaufman and Karen Mack
"I collect new books the way my girlfriends buy designer handbags. Sometimes, I just like to know I have them and actually reading them is beside the point. Not that I don't eventually end up reading them one by one. I do. But the mere act of buying them makes me happy - the world is more promising, more fulfilling. It's hard to explain, but I feel, somehow, more optimistic. The whole act just cheers me up." pg. 15
I couldn't cut it into a two sentences because the whole of it sums up my last week's Musing Monday. It is exactly what i feel!

The Marshal Takes A Bride by Renee Ryan
"Although he had at least a hundred pounds on the stormy eyed sprite, Trey had to stifle the shocking urge to withdraw. He'd stood up against cannons, gross injustice and vicious criminals, but nothing compared to the disapproval of Katherine Taylor - schoolmarm, official custodian of the Charity House trusts and Molly's overprotective sister."

Getting Out by Gwendolen Gross
"What if I played the switchback game with my father - what would he imagine in his future, and what would I tell him of mine? Now all his possibilities were limited. I thought of his commands and comments: get married, don't get married, I guess that's one way to squander your talents. My father was disappointed, but mostly in himself. For all his insistence and displays, it was what he hadn't done yet that plagued him."
Just finished reading the book, and I love it!

Wish by Alexandra Bullen
A little teaser from my current read:
"His face was flushed in an expression of blissful concentration, his green eyes blinking ferociously as loose locks of sandy blond hair flew spastically around his head. It was an impressive performance, equal parts exciting and terrifying, and Olivia's eyes were glued to every heavy bass-drum thump, every shattered attack of hi-hat."Wish by Alexandra Bullen
